Unsigned Delonte West makes the case for … unsigned Delonte West
By Rob Mahoney
According to Twitter’s official blog, a whopping 90 percent — some 400 — of the NBA’s players condense their thoughts into 140-character chunks ripe for public consumption, and the circle gets much larger as we branch out to writers and TV personalities and basketball die-hards.
And yet, not a single person in the basketball Twittersphere manages to use the service quite like Delonte West. Technically, West isn’t an NBA player right now, having been waived by the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. But he’s taken to his account to remedy that very issue, and made a case for himself in a style that is distinctly and utterly West:

He may require frequent [sic]-ing, but West isn’t at all wrong; the 29-year-old guard really is in a position to do some good for another team at the league’s minimum salary, and the fact that he’s willing to accept a non-guaranteed deal should get him some additional offers. Suitors will naturally have some hesitation given West’s past issues and his recent dismissal, but the ability to acquire a rotation-caliber player mid-season at such an affordable rate is quite persuasive indeed. One can only hope that West, whether due to his Twitter plea or track record, pops up on some GM’s radar and finds his way back into the league and back onto the court.
