Stan Van Gundy on Mike Brown: ‘Most ridiculous firing’ in NBA history

The Orlando Sentinel caught up with Stan Van Gundy to get his reaction to Mike Brown’s dismissal as Lakers coach. Van Gundy, predictably, didn’t pull any punches.

The outspoken former Magic coach called the move “the most ridiculous firing in the history of the NBA” and questioned why the Lakers didn’t give Brown more than five games to integrate newcomers Dwight Howard, who is coming off back surgery, and Steve Nash, who has missed the last three games with a leg injury.

Van Gundy, of course, coached Howard for five seasons. But Van Gundy was fired by the Magic in May, one month after claiming that high-ranking team officials had told him Howard wanted him gone. Van Gundy joked to the Sentinel about replacing Brown, “I’m sure I’m at the top of their list.”

Can't really say he is a choker anymore. NBA champ and Olympic gold medal in the same year and that is not even including the MVP. He also should have won the Defense Player of the Year. Just saying. That is not a choker, but a winner.  He has one more ring than Stockon and Malone also, just saying.

Agree, I think Tito still thinks what you can win a title with 5 stars.  Remember last time when they lost to the pistons with Karl, Payton, etc.  The Heat will win again this year.
