A fan named Michael Drysch nailed a half-court hook shot during Friday’s game between the Pistons and Heat in Miami, winning $75,000 and the right to be tackled by NBA MVP LeBron James in celebration.

The right hand hook shot swished straight in, earning an ovation from the AmericanAirlines Arena crowd and a bear hug from James that sent the two of them tumbling to the ground with excitement.

The $75,000 shot was sponsored by LeBronJames.com and Carmex, according to Fox Sports FloridaThe Miami Herald reported that Drysch, 50, is a Bulls fan.

ESPN.com reported more from Drysch’s post-shot reaction.

“It’s a great way to meet somebody like that,” Drysch said, as he was presented the oversized check. “I had no idea he was coming over to me like that. That was amazing. What a great feeling to experience something like this.”

“They told me to put some spin on the ball, and get it up there as high as I could,” Drysch said. “I had made that shot something like 1 percent of the time in my life.”

James posted a message on Twitter about the shot after the game: “How bout my man Michael with the sky hook from half court for 75k large!!! #wow #awesomeness”

The Heat beat the Pistons 110-88, improving to 28-12 on the season. James finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 33 minutes.

Lebron has always loved playin ball. The dude did nothing wrong. He just said where he was going on "The Decision." Not sure what the "appreciate the fan" comment is about.  the guy has probably done more for the avg guy than most people will in 10 lifetimes.

That was a great scene: Lebron James embracing a fan who made a half-court shot to win $75K. How improbable was that shot?  Mr. Drysch looked like he just came from a buffet table, yet, he had the strength to throw the basketball from halfway the court.  Lebron's genuine glee of running to the center court to embrace the fan brought tears to my eyes.

For all of Lebron's faults, I think he really is beginning to appreciate the fan and average person. He lived up to everything that dude and his family could have ever imagined. Growing up we idolized John Elway and in real life he was...disappointing.

Man, that's what makes sports great!  With all the bad stuff going on across the planet, for one night Mr. Joe Brother goes from being irrelevant to mankind to Numero Uno in excitement and joy.

And for 95% of of Americans, (me certainly included) getting $75 grand ain't bad.  Actually, $50 grand after the Tea Party gets through sucking blood.

@Yeah I Said It So What? Jesus this is what's wrong with our political system. The tea party taking your taxes????  Are you stupid or another brainwashed leftybot? Probably both. Look for obama and the political elite for your tax money dunce.

@Yeah I Said It So What? It was not the Tea Party that set the tax rates.  That would be the rank & file criminal elements in the republican & democrat parties.

@Yeah I Said It So What? This seems a little off topic (but you started it)-- I'm curious..How again, exactly, does that $25 K get 'sucked' from your theoretical $75K win?

Taxes, dude.  The government takes a big chunk out of all money prizes like this.

Although I'm not sure why he's throwing it all on the Tea Party.  The government has had such income tax laws for ages now.
