LeBron James, Heat teammates star in ‘Harlem Shake’ dance video
By Ben Golliver
Earlier this week, the Raptors released a “Harlem Shake” video and you knew it was only a matter of time before other NBA teams followed suit. Well, the Heat are officially in the mix as of Thursday, and their effort is fairly epic.
Reminder: The “Harlem Shake” concept is simple. Two shots. First shot: a sole costumed figure begins dancing slowly as the beat to Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” picks up while a group carries on about its business, oblivious to the dancer. Second shot, after a brief cut: the whole group, in zany costumes, goes buck wild as the song hits its electronic fever pitch. That’s really all there is to it. Simple, goofy, harmless: everyone from Playboy models to soldiers to college kids to senior citizens has gotten in on the fun in recent weeks. A whole host of mascots and dancers got in on the fun during All-Star Weekend too.
The Heat’s version opens inside the locker room with Chris “Birdman” Andersen flapping his wings around slowly as his teammates stretch. Once the cut hits, a shirtless James is wearing a king’s crown and robe and going ballistic, Chris Bosh is rocking a cowboy hat, Mario Chalmers is dressed as Super Mario, Wade is wearing a giant bear’s head, and there’s a sombrero, a rainbow afro, a rolling bin, a Kris Kross outfit, a fireman’s hat, and a Phantom of the Opera mask to top it off. Pretty good.
Anyone who has a problem with this is just a miserable human being. Lighten up!! Hafe some fun before your croak!!
Not a Heat fan, but I think it's clever
