Video: Nuggets’ Andre Iguodala hits game-winning basket against Mavericks
By Ben Golliver
Nuggets guard Andre Iguodala hit the game-winning bucket with 2.8 seconds remaining to defeat the Mavericks 95-94 in Denver’s Pepsi Center on Thursday.
This wasn’t the prettiest outing for Iguodala, who scored eight points and shot just three-for-13 from the field, but Nuggets fans weren’t complaining after his late-game heroics. With 7.7 seconds left and the Mavericks leading 94-93, Denver inbounded to Iguodala, who used a right-to-left crossover to beat Vince Carter into the paint. Once there, he elevated and leaned into an off-balance, left-handed floater, which rattled home with less than three seconds remaining.
An Anthony Morrow three at the other end was blocked by Corey Brewer, preserving the one-point victory for Denver.
Denver, the West’s No. 3 seed, improved to 52-24 on the season thanks to 22 points and seven assists from Andre Miller and 12 points and 19 rebounds from Kenneth Faried. Brewer scored a game-high 23 points off the bench. The Nuggets’ 18th win in their last 20 games was bittersweet, though, as forward Danilo Gallinari was lost to a serious knee injury.
Dallas fell to 36-39 with the loss, falling three games out of the West’s No. 8 seed with just seven games to play. The Mavericks were led by 16 points and six rebounds from Brandan Wright. Dirk Nowitzki added 13 points and six rebounds in the losing effort.
