Andrew Bynum dances away the offseason in Spain

Bad knees kept Andrew Bynum out of the lineup in Philadelphia this season, but it’s good to know he’s not letting the injury put a damper on his offseason.

The upcoming free agent, who did not log a minute for the Sixers after being acquired in a four-team deal that sent Dwight Howard to the Lakers, is vacationing in Madrid, far away from the noise and pressure of the NBA playoffs. A little R&R isn’t the worst thing for a player who has undergone four knee surgeries in eight seasons, but Bynum isn’t taking it easy. Rather, he’s spending his nights flamenco dancing:

Two takeaways from the video, which was posted on Facebook by a restaurant in Madrid:

• His knees look great! Wearing a sleek Ferrari jacket, Bynum doesn’t miss a beat. I guess a whole season off will put a little extra pep in your step.

• At least he wasn’t bowling. Bynum admitted in November that he suffered a “setback” while on the lanes. At the time Bynum said, “If I did that bowling, what would happen when I dunked?” Encouraging stuff for teams looking to sign the big man this offseason.

Rose and Bynum are both pus sies that should have their pay taken away for breach of contract.

Andrew Bynum is a joke. Most of today's athletes are a joke.  Dr. J would play hurt but not Bynum.  No more excuses.  He was a 17 million dollar joke.  I got hurt at work and didn't bowl or dance.  Hey he is from Dirty Jersey so who cares.  The Sixers suck but I still love them  I know for a fact that if it was contract year, Bynum would put up monster numbers.  Don't feel bad for him, he is a punk

Shouts out to the TNT crew for calling attention to this.

Bynum is fine as a human being ... but he has a serious handicap as a professional basketball player ... or any professional athlete, for that matter. When God gave him that big body, he compensated by reducing the size of his heart.

I watched all those Laker years and was repeatedly tantalized by glimpses of greatness ... but it never happened and never will.

Appearances mean a lot.  However, a little soft shoe is a far cry from the rigors of an NBA basketball game.
