Video: Bulls’ Nazr Mohammed ejected for shoving Heat’s LeBron James to court

2013 NBA playoffs, Ben Golliver, Chicago Bulls, LeBron James, Miami Heat, Nazr Mohammed

Bulls center Nazr Mohammed was ejected after shoving Heat forward LeBron James to the court during the second quarter of Game 3 of an Eastern Conference semifinals series on Friday night.

Mohammed fouled James to prevent an open-court opportunity. Referee Joey Crawford then hit James with a technical foul for his reaction to the foul, which involved a spinning swing that wound up sending Mohammed to the ground. Mohammed then retaliated by shoving James in the chest with two arms, knocking him to the ground. Mohammed was ejected for his action.

“We’re here to play a basketball game, and try to win a basketball game,” James said during a televised halftime interview. “All the extracurricular is not even really needed. But if it’s here, we accept the challenge.”

Earlier in the game, Joakim Noah received a technical foul for shoving Chris “The Birdman” Andersen.

James finished with a game-high 25 points (on six-for-17 shooting), eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 44 minutes. He had 12 fourth-quarter points to seal the 104-94 road win. Following the game, the Bulls accused James of a “flop” and “acting” on the sequence.

The Heat now lead the series 2-1. Game 4 is set for Monday night in Miami.

I disliked Lebron but welcomed him to Miami with open arms. Any human being with an ounce of intellect wouldn't deny him a place on his/her team. Another way to choose: Where would you rather be? Cleveland or Miami?

I am neither a Bulls or Heat fan and don't care for either team since I am a Pacer's fan....But it looked to me like it was quite a shove that LeBron didn't see coming.....hard to flop that!

i hate LeBrown, but I don't call it flopping

watched the play a few times. impossible to say whether he flopped or not. It looks like he did at the end, but theres no way to tell so everyone please stop saying you "know" he flopped or he didnt flop. Too close to tell.

Even if that WAS a fllop, Mohammed still should've shown more restraint; Bulls bench is virtually nothing, they can't afford to lose players on something trivial...

did the bulls miss when Belinelli flopped 3 times on the same play?

I thought you had to throw a punch to get ejected in an NBA game.  I guess the league is not trying to hide the fact that the rules are different when LeBron James is involved.  What a flopper... That's why his peers don't respect him..

Lebron James deserved to be shoved.....and he FLOPPED.....What a pre-madonna.  I'm so happy I never drank his kool-aid.  It's hater-aid.

James jumped back, it is pretty easy to see, it was a flop, but he was pushed, but he contributes to the momentum.

didn't "prevent an open court opportunity".  Look at the video - there were already THREE Bulls back in defensive position.

Nazar is 6'10 250 pounds. A shove from him will take Lebron or anyone down. Crawford overreacted and should have called a foul on Nazar FIRST. Nazar fouled Lebron FIRST. Of course the little Dan Gilbert disciples will chime in and hate on Lebron . You all have been programmed to hate Lebron  ? You are sad little men . If Lebron is Queen James  all you haters are Gilberts girls.

So all the people who are calling it a flop have been pushed by Nazr before?

DEAR DAVID STERN:

BAD CALLS IN THE NBA = MORE BASEBALL FOR ME TO WATCH. I HEAR SHIN SOO CHOO WAS ON BASE 3x TONIGHT... YOU GET WHAT I AM SAYING?

CALL THE FOULS FAIRLY! I DID NOT SEE A SINGLE TRIP DOWN THE COURT WHERE LEBRON DID NOT THROW AN ELBOW. AND HOW MANY FOULS WERE CALLED ON LEBRON?

NATE ROBINSON IS A LOT MORE EXCITING THAN ANY OF THE HEAT PLAYERS. AND YOU LET HIM GET STEPPED ON AND FACE PLANTED, NEEDING STITCHES? AND NO FOULS?

THAT WAS THE WORST REFEREED PLAYOFF GAME I CAN REMEMBER.

SO SAD. YOU THINK CHINESE FANS WANT TO WATCH THE AMAZING SHORT GUY GET CHEATED TIME AND AGAIN? SO BAD FOR BUSINESS. SO SAD TO THROW AWAY A BRAND YOU WORKED SO HARD TO BUILD.

From someone who hates the NBA in general (due to lack of defense and flopping) how can anybody in their right minds say that James flops here.  After he was fouled he got into a minor scrap with Nazr, but Nazr shoved James with two hands forcefully after.  That was not a flop in the least.  I know most NBA fans hat the Heat/James but everyone needs to get a grip.  This play was in no way a flop.

Oh, wait, are people saying James falling because of the SHOVE was a flop?

Okay, then you still don't understand the concept.  Maybe James didn't *have* to fall (and that's debatable... it's obvious the shove caught James completely by surprise, and Nazr certainly wasn't gentle about it), but it's irrelevant, because that was plainly a full-forced shove regardless.

leehwgoc
leehwgoc

Anyone who calls that a flop doesn't understand the concept.  Nazr came out of nowhere and deliberately aimed at and hit, with considerable force, James' arm, and then basically hugged his hip.  That was obviously a flagrant all by itself, period.

Crawford's initial technical on James was pretty damn harsh, because James' physical reaction to Nazr's action seemed pretty natural to me.  If Nazr hadn't then botched his underhanded thuggery by shoving James, Crawford's bogus technical is all anyone would be talking about right now.

There's no doubt that Lebron played that one up a bit, but it was hardly a flop. A flop happens when a guy is just trying to draw a foul with very little-to-no contact from an opposing player. Mohammed clearly shoved Lebron with both hands, so even if Lebron did embellish on that shove a little, that was just a dumb move on Mohammed's part.

I am not a Heat fan and I am definitely not a Bulls fan; but I must ask, are you people blind. That was an obvious foul by Mohammed on James. It is very plain to see, Mohammed tried to tie James up and with a spinning move James sent Mohammed to the floor. The ref called a technical on James in error. Then Mohammed very clearly pushed James with extreme force when James was not looking, James losing his balance and falling fo the floor. There was no flop.

Sorry - But right now the NBA is UNWATCHABLE!!  When are these "pros" going to stop brawling and start balling??   For a league that seemed to be worried about the thug image a few years back, Stern and his minions have let that image go from gangsta's off the court, to hockey goons on the court.

Un-freakin-watchable...

The NBA is a joke. James tackles Mahommad, then takes a ridiculous flop. If the league is serious about ending flopping they should suspend James for a game.

Heat get by with murder because of being defending champs and LeBron. LeBron is notorious whinner. He thinks the world owes him something. He never would have survived old school basket ball.

He figured the Heat kept flopping and getting calls so why not try it himself?  It works for Wade and LeBron...

@Joe R2 Please show me the article in the rule book that says you have to throw a punch to get ejected from a game.  You are a troll Heat articles, so I have decided to troll every post you have made on this article.  You can get ejected from the game for arguing a call..no where does it say you have to throw a punch.  Learn the rules before you comment.  Thanks.

@leehwgoc Bogus tech? You mean the blatant elbow he threw at Nazr? And LBJ flopped, period. A flop is falling to the ground, in a overreaction to a physical action, to draw a foul call (or in this case, an ejection) -- This is EXACTLY what he did. Before you start calling people out, why don't you step off LeBron's junk you lemming.

RobertJacke

@WilyCoyoteSuperGenius The NBA says to want to stop flopping but thats for other teams the Heat is allowed to flop, travel, foul and not be called

dhpaulwooton

@WilyCoyoteSuperGenius Okay, I am not a Heat fan in fact I hate the Heat and am a Bulls fan but a suspension would be a bit much. There was contact and it was a push. Was it overreaction? Is the sky blue? But enough for a suspension, no; however, you'll never see a fine on LeBron.

Do you even know what a peer is or are LeBron's nuts lodged so far into your mouth that it's affecting your brain?  His peers that don't respect him like current NBA players and coaches.  Jason Terry, Rajon Rondo, Joakim Noah, Larry Sanders, Frank Vogel, Danny Ainge, and many many more of his opponents have called him out for flopping and crying to officials.  You don't hear that about guys like Kobe or Durant because their peers actually respect them.

Slurp on fanboy, slurp on...

@RobertJacke @KeithKoloff Look at the picture at the moment the two handed push hits his chest..he is too busy looking at Crawford and arguing his technical.  He was not looking.  That push would have knocked anyone in the league to their butts..did he indulge on the slide? Sure.  That's what you should do. What is the benefit in trying to stop the slide when a guy just took a cheap shot at you?

@Joe R2 @hereandback Oh you mean those peers...the ones that are all talk. Sure. You are right. There is a certain group of players and coaches that think they deserve more respect than they get. Always will be. All players in the NBA flop. ALL. Every single one of them. Some get away with more than others. I don't know what boards you frequent, but Kobe and Kevin are laughed at for their flopping.

Iowa man threatened her life

Associated Press

DENVER -- A federal judge sentenced an Iowa man to four months in federal prison Friday for leaving a profanity-laced death threat on the answering machine of the woman accusing NBA star Da Alleged Rapist of rape. John Roche, 23, of Davenport, Iowa, had pleaded guilty to making a threatening phone call across state lines after a day of drinking with friends. He faced up to six months in prison and a $10,000 fine under sentencing guidelines.
