Videos: Heat’s Shane Battier, Chris Bosh flop in Game 4 against Spurs

2013 NBA Finals, Ben Golliver, Chris Bosh, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Shane Battier

SAN ANTONIO — The first three games of the 2013 NBA Finals officially went flop-less, with the NBA handing out no fines for violating its policy against simulating or exaggerating contact.

But Game 4 between the Heat and Spurs on Thursday saw multiple plays that could draw the ire of the league office.

Late in the first quarter, Heat forward Shane Battier appeared to exaggerate contact received from Spurs guard Manu Ginobili as he set a screen on the perimeter. Battier seemed to launch himself backward, drawing a foul on Ginobili.

Then, midway through the second quarter, Heat forward/center Chris Bosh flung himself to the ground as he jockeyed for position in the post while defending Spurs forward/center Tim Duncan. Bosh appeared to take some contact as Duncan attempted to seal him away from the play with an outstretched right arm, but Bosh flung both of his arms into the air as he crashed to the ground, drawing a foul on Duncan.

Heat forward LeBron James is the only member of either team to be fined for flopping during the playoffs.

Violators are fined $5,000 for a first offense under the league’s postseason anti-flopping policy, which removed a free warning that was granted during the regular season.

The Spurs hold a 2-1 series lead over the Heat. Game 5 is set for Sunday in San Antonio’s AT&T Center.

i dont think either should be fined. they werent lear cut flops. yea, both exaggerated the contact, but both have arguments. Ginobli pushed out and extended his left arm and pushed off. it wasnt just a bump in the chest. on the Bosh play, his left leg gets caught behind Duncan's leg, not allowing him to step as he fell forward. i dont think either shouldve been called as a foul, especially the Duncan one. abit exaggerated, yes. fineable flop, no.

I'm a Spurs fan, but I must say,, the NBA is really almost getting to be unwatchable,,,, both sets of teams are flopping.  It seems to becoming a league of trying to get away with deceiving the referee by diving and flopping and yelling out in pain at all contact.  Something needs to be done,   That flop by Battier is a move that is clearly practiced, and I imagine the Heat and other teams practice, behind closed doors,, the art of flopping.

those 2 flops by shane and bosh have no place in the NBA.  Jeez, this is the Finals.  Millions who watch these games in the USA and overseas deserve better.  The Heat could have defeated the Spurs even without those flops.

the heat is good enough to win games

why do they have to resort to flopping ?

Ginobli and Parker also flopped in the first half

@John97 Someone who has been watching Ginobli and Parker for this many years would certainly have seen far more than his share of flopping by this point.

all nba players have already been put on notice, yet battier and bosh seems to have complete disregard to this new rule.

i guess lebron told them to"do whatever it takes" to win the game, even resort to "cheating"

i never really saw any tangible leadership qualities in him. not after the way he talks himself up after every game. everytime he say its HIM that lost the game shows a lot of DISRESPECT for his teammates. basketball is a team sport. not one person lose or win the game.

@vicente @JonathanD @John97 So, my guess is that you're the kind of person who claims that Lebron is a weak team leader on one day, and then claims that he orders veterans older than himself to flop on command.
