Free-agent point guard Jarrett Jack agreed to a four-year, $25 million contract with the Cavaliers, according to The San Jose Mercury News and ESPN.com. The deal includes a team option on the final season.

Jack, 29, averaged 12.9 points, 5.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds last season as a key piece on a Warriors team that advanced to the Western Conference semifinals. A strong, experienced guard adept at both scoring and distributing, Jack joins a Cavaliers backcourt that includes All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving and rising sophomore Dion Waiters, a 2012 lottery pick. Jack is widely regarded as a good locker-room leader, and he is capable of playing on or off the ball and in either a starting or reserve role.

The Warriors opted against retaining Jack, instead orchestrating a cap-clearing trade so that they could agree to sign free-agent swingman Andre Iguodala.

“Well, it was fun while it lasted,” Jack tweeted Friday.

Free agents can officially sign contracts beginning Wednesday.

GRADE: A-. Jack is a reliable and solid addition to any backcourt. The 2013-14 Cavaliers are much like the 2012-13 Warriors: They are a team looking to make a run up the standings into the playoffs with a top-shelf starting point guard in place. Irving’s presence should make life easy for Jack and vice versa.  The terms for Jack’s contract are almost exactly right, and the flexibility in the final year is a nice bonus for Cleveland. He should play enough minutes, and fill them well enough on both ends, to earn the $6.3 million-per-year figure.

If that isn't a ringing endorsement of his being thrilled to wear the wine and gold I don't know what is.
