Video: Lights go out during Orlando Summer League game between Jazz and Nets

2013 Orlando Summer League, Ben Golliver, Brooklyn Nets, Utah Jazz

No one will confuse Summer League with the Super Bowl, but Wednesday’s action in Orlando was bathed in darkness.

With the Jazz leading 98-69 and just 0.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, the lights unexpectedly cut out in the Amway Center gymnasium. The game was delayed long enough that NBA TV was forced to cut to a commercial break. The game eventually resumed without lights, as organizers opted to open the blinds on the sideline to let sunlight in.

NBA TV’s coverage did not break when the lights went out and the illuminating lights on the backboard somehow kept running in the darkness. After a few minutes, the lights were turned back on.

After the delay, Utah improved to 2-1 with the win. Chris Roberts and Jeremy Evans led the way with 15 points apiece. Brooklyn fell to 0-3 with the loss despite 20 points from Chris Wright.

Shortly after the Super Bowl in February, the Timberwolves staged a mock blackout at the Target Center during a timeout.
