Video: Suns’ Marcus Morris hits buzzer-beating game-winner to defeat Timberwolves
Suns forward Marcus Morris hit a buzzer-beating game-winner to defeat the Timberwolves 91-89 at the Las Vegas Summer League on Monday.
Phoenix overcame a 24-point deficit and closed on a 10-2 run thanks in part to a Shabazz Muhammad turnover that set up the Suns’ final possession. With the score tied at 89 and 3.3 seconds on the clock, Morris received a sideline inbounds pass, blanketed by Solomon Jones, and used two dribbles to his right to create a jumper in front of Phoenix’s bench. He released the ball with less than one second remaining and tumbled to the court in front of his teammates as the ball swished through with the buzzer sounding.
Morris, a 2011 first-round pick traded by the Rockets to the Suns back in February, finished with 18 points four rebounds and three steals in 31 minutes. His twin brother, Markieff, scored a game-high 22 points and had six rebounds in the victory. Robbie Hummel led the Timberwolves with 18 points and seven rebounds.
Phoenix improved to 2-0 with the win; Minnesota dropped to 0-2 with the loss.
