Metta World Peace to change name again

The back of his new Knicks jersey might still read “WORLD PEACE,” but the basketball player formerly known as Ron Artest is apparently considering yet another name change to accompany his move to New York.

In an interview with ClevverNews (via ESPN New York), Metta World Peace acknowledged that another, albeit informal tweak to his identity is in the works.

“I’m not going to legally change my name until my career is over,” World Peace said. “But we are going to do a name change, but I can’t tell you what it is.”

The suspense is thick. Given the direction the then-Artest went with his first name change – “Metta World Peace” was about as far off the beaten path as one could have expected — it might not even be worthwhile to bother with guesswork on what the new name might be. Maybe it’s possible for a return to normalcy — and a “Ron Artest” revival — for the homeward-bound small forward. After all, Artest is the name by which New York knows him. Still, it’s obviously safer to assume the weirdest from one of the league’s preeminent characters.

Why would change his name? Does he have a low IQ level or something? Like at a 20?

He should just try sticking with one name like Bono, Sting,or something like that. It would be easier to changed it . I like Flatfoot.

"Washed up Crazy" would be my choice.

So I guess Artest is trying to start this trend where NBA players are now like entertainers, known mostly by their stage names.
