Video: Nuggets’ Nate Robinson fined for striking Thunder’s Steven Adams
Nuggets guard Nate Robinson was fined $10,000 on Monday for an incident involving Thunder center Steven Adams during Oklahoma City’s 109-81 preseason win last week.
With 10:59 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Thunder leading 91-65, Robinson was assessed a flagrant foul 2 and ejected for striking Adams in the chest. (Video of the play is at the 1:30 mark of the above clip.) Robinson was initially caught up in a pick by Adams and then shoved Adams in the back with both arms as Derek Fisher made a jumper. Adams did not respond and simply turned to run back down the court after Fisher’s shot went through, and Robinson then reached out with his left arm, slapping Adams across the chest. The 2013 lottery pick from Pittsburgh again had no response, and Robinson departed last Tuesday’s game with 10 points and three assists in 14 minutes.
Officially, the NBA assessed the fine to Robinson for “pushing from behind” and “striking in the chest.”
Robinson, 29, averaged 13.1 points, 4.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds for the Bulls last season. He signed a two-year, $4.1 million contract with the Nuggets this summer.
Denver, 2-3 during the preseason, continues its exhibition schedule on Wednesday against Phoenix. The Nuggets will begin the regular season at Sacramento on Oct. 30.
