Knicks fan mails J.R. Smith $60 in cash after winning crazy bet in ‘NBA2K13′

Is there anything better than a good J.R. Smith story?

Just to recap the last few weeks: He threatened Brandon Jennings on Twitter, prompted the Knicks to pay more than $2 million for his brother to play in the D-League, guaranteed the Knicks would win the title, was suspended for violating the league’s anti-drug policy and shot 3-of-18 in Saturday’s loss to Atlanta.

But the latest story from the Knicks’ mercurial shooting guard is likely to bring a smile to your face. On Monday, Smith posted a handwritten note from a fan on his Instagram account revealing that someone had sent him $60 in cash after winning a bet from a friend involving Smith in the video game NBA2K13.

As the story goes: John Quirie bet his $120 friend that he could score more points in one game with J.R. Smith than he could score with the entire Miami Heat. Quirie won the bet (likely because J.R. Smith is awesome in video games) and decided he would send Smith half the cash because, well, fair is fair.

Mind you, Smith has made more than $28 million over his nine-year career and is scheduled to make $17.9 million over the next three seasons. But that didn’t keep Quire from forking over the cash, a noble gesture of a loyal #Knickstape supporter.

It’s one of those things you have to see to believe:

This story reeks of fakeness.  No way you can score more with one dude than with an entire team.  All you have to do is quadruple team him in 2k13.  Even if the other guy never played 2k13 in his life it's impossible.

So John Q,won a bet and sent half to Smith. WOW,proof that Dolan isn't the only dumb person who admires him. Oh well,i guess he's happy he has a fan, that's not family.

@Nate the Pate I'm pretty sure he was still using the whole Knicks team but only taking shots with JR Smith. And this sort of thing is definitely possible in the 2k series
