Video: Pistons’ Josh Smith throws down poster dunk on Heat’s Chris Bosh
Pistons forward Josh Smith threw down a poster dunk over Heat forward Chris Bosh on Tuesday night in Miami.
The 2005 Slam Dunk Contest champion got Bosh good on this one, even if the sequence was a bit unorthodox.
With roughly seven minutes remaining in the first quarter and Detroit leading 13-6, Brandon Jennings broke out ahead of the pack in transition. Stopping to avoid Mario Chalmers, Jennings patiently fed a trailing Smith, who filled the left lane behind the play.
Bosh gave chase too, and he was even with Smith at the free-throw line before angling his challenging effort across the paint. Ultimately, he didn’t have much of a chance to contest the dunk, as Smith’s southpaw status kept the ball well out of harm’s way. Bosh’s momentum eventually carried him towards the baseline with his back turned to the action, and Smith completed the one-handed dunk over the top of Bosh’s back.
The backwards poster produced by the sequence is pretty entertaining, as Bosh is seemingly looking right at the photographer as Smith torpedoes over the top of him.
Let’s add Smith to the growing “Dunk of the Year” conversation, which also includes poster dunks by Lakers guard Xavier Henry, Celtics forward Jeff Green, Nuggets forward J.J. Hickson and Magic guard Victor Oladipo.
