Video: Heat’s LeBron James throws down poster dunk on Hawks’ Paul Millsap

2013-14 Dunk of the Year, Atlanta Hawks, Ben Golliver, LeBron James, Miami Heat, Paul Millsap

Heat forward LeBron James threw down a poster dunk over Hawks forward Paul Millsap during the fourth quarter of Miami’s 121-119 overtime home win on Monday.

With the Hawks up 109-106 and just under 20 seconds remaining in regulation, James attacked the basket hard in hopes of extending the game. Turning the corner on Al Horford outside the three-point line, the back-to-back MVP approached the paint from the right wing, sizing up Millsap, who attempted to position himself near the protected circle to draw a charge.

James took the direct route in dealing with Millsap, rising up and over him to finish a one-handed slam. There was only time for a brief staredown, as the Heat still needed to defend the Hawks’ inbound possession with less than 15 seconds remaining in the game. Miami forced overtime when Ray Allen hit three straight free throws after being fouled in the left corner, and the two-time defending champions pulled out the win in the extra period to improve to 21-6 on the season.

James added another entry to a growing “Dunk of the Year” conversation, which also includes Lakers guard Xavier Henry, Celtics forward Jeff Green, Nuggets forward J.J. Hickson, Magic guard Victor Oladipo, Pistons forward Josh Smith, and his own dunk over Ben McLemore.

Miami had six players finish in double figures, and James led the way with a game-high 38 points (on 16-for-28 shooting), eight rebounds and six assists. Allen added 19 points (on 7-for-10 shooting) and six rebounds.

Jeff Teague led the Hawks with 26 points (on 10-for-20 shooting), eight assists and six rebounds. Millsap added 25 points (on 9-for-20 shooting) and 10 rebounds in a losing effort. Atlanta dropped to 15-13 on the season.

Too bad the refs don't call a foul on "King" James. The Hawks dunked on the whole Miami Heat team in this game, but once again, Lebron cries and the refs start blowing. No way is the Heat a better team than the Hawks. Milsap was clearly there in time and beyond the half-circle and Lebron had a charge that didn't get called. Next???

WOW, too bad other 6'8" blacks can't dunk or we'd see at least ONE of theirs. Guess Lebaby is the goat since no one else can dunk.
