Video: LeBron James takes exception to flagrant foul by Mirza Teletovic

Ben Golliver, Brooklyn Nets, LeBron James, Miami Heat, Mirza Teletovic

Heat forward LeBron James took exception to a flagrant foul by Nets forward Mirza Teletovic during Brooklyn’s 104-95 double overtime victory at the Barclays Center on Friday.

With a little less than nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the Nets leading 80-77, James pushed the ball up in transition. As he approached the three-point line, James used his left arm to clear Andrei Kirilenko off of him, and the whistle blew for an offensive foul. As James’s momentum continued into the paint, Teletovic wrapped his arms around James’s head in a half-horsecollar before quickly pulling them back because the play was dead.

James immediately reacted with anger, as did Norris Cole. Michael Beasley pulled James away from a chest-to-chest confrontation with Teletovic, as the Nets forward simply laughed in response.

The referees reviewed the sequence and assessed a flagrant foul 1 to Teletovic, a designation that applies to contact that is deemed “unnecessary.” James was also given the offensive foul for clearing away Kirilenko, although the Russian forward might have earned a flop warning for his flailing reaction, which appeared inconsistent with the level of contact delivered by James’s push off.

This was a grumpy night all around for James, who fouled out on another offensive foul with just 36 seconds remaining in the first overtime.

After Paul Pierce missed potential game-winning shots at the end of regulation and overtime, the Nets pulled away from the James-less Heat in the second overtime period. Miami took the court without Dwyane Wade (rest) and Mario Chalmers (Achilles) on Friday.

James finished with a game-high 36 points (on 12-for-21 shooting), seven rebounds and five assists. Cole added 18 points (on 8-for-14 shooting) and seven assists in a losing effort.

Joe Johnson led the Nets with a team-high 32 points (on 14-for-25 shooting), five assists and four rebounds. He scored 22 points in the first quarter. Pierce added 23 points (on 7-for-17 shooting), five rebounds and three assists for Brooklyn.

The Nets improved to 15-21 with the win. The Heat dropped to 27-10 with the loss.

What a whimp.  I've seen harder fouls in gradeschool.  Not sure at what point in the game this occurred, but I'm guessing it was some sort of calculated action on James' part designed to try to light a fire under his suddenly flaccid team.

That was a "hard foul"?! C'mon! Sure he kind of corralled him a little but he let go just as quickly! Lebron's an entitled wussy...

watched the play live and it was a foul.  LeBron was already called for an offensive foul and the whistle was already blown.  Both LeBron and Teletovic heard it because both played for continuation (stupid concept but that is for another day).  Teletovic needed to make sure LeBron (one of the strongest players in the league) didn't get the ball up - he did just that - fair play.

The next thing, which was correctly called on the air by the announcers, is that once the common offensive foul was whistled the officials cannot call a flagrant but only a technical.  That whole LeBron reaction, media coverage, official call, and even this post are complete unnecessary.  The only thing that was necessary in the whole thing was Teletovic's foul.  Good play.

that was a nothing foul... LeChimp just wanted to go down the lane untouched for the slam....that was the source of the anger...

@ZachMueller Spot on. I find it silly LeBron acted the way he did. Just last year I remeber LeBron throwing a flagrant on Boozer. Part of the game.

@tfaw Being a racist behind a computer is big bro. Yuplamhere is right, you are dumb. I'm also not a fan of LeBron, so I usually side with people against him. Nothing more pathetic than a person like yourself.

@YupIamhere @tfaw dude, learn how to associate words with meaning...i call it a foul...wow...go back to school...

@amarshall54 @tfaw @YupIamhere i hope she ain't fat and lazy with a nice voice. as for me, i too believe in multi-media entertainment from them...good luck.

@tfaw @amarshall54 @YupIamhere Unfortunately, I'm the fat and lazy, but without the IQ.  I would add that I butted into a great back and forth between you and YupIamhere ... Sorry.  I just found it quite interesting.  Now, I have a hot babe on the 1-900 line ... got to come, I mean go ...

@amarshall54 @tfaw @YupIamhere it would be a stretch to correlate my comment that i could run circles around the other dude as "bragging about how smart they are"... my clear meaning was relative.  i am puzzled that you would even get to that conclusion.   i'm sure that 90% of the people reading the post would conclude that both of us fuit into the moron category for extending the dialog.  i just happen to believe i am slightly less dumb than the other guy.  on a side note, i am not fat nor lazy, but there are many fat and lazy people that have exceptionally high intelligence.  but i reading your attempt to throw darts my way was worthy of a laugh at your expense.

@tfaw @amarshall54 @YupIamhere I like reading comments in which someone brags about how smart they are because I picture someone like me ... a fat lazy nobody stuffing a hotdog into my mouth as I type and dial 1-900 numbers.

@amarshall54 @tfaw @YupIamhere your experience is an experience of you only.  you may be right or you may be incorrect.  would not have used the word "anyone".  as stated, my view is based simply on observation; you don't have to agree.

amarshall54

@tfaw @YupIamhere My experience is that one's IQ is inversely proportional to how much they brag about it.  In addition, equating anyone to a chimpanzee is probably not one of the brighter comments ever posted, especially as it applies to an African-Americans.

@YupIamhere @tfaw  ok, you are dumber than even I believed.  i will go into parrot mode now.  i expressed a opinion bases on observation and you can't handle it. good luck with all that.

@tfaw@YupIamhere1. I am not intelligent? yet you are the one shooting insults, but seem offended at them being hurled at you.

2. You say i use too many words because the points go right over your head and you can't deal with them.

3. And you can do as you like, but do think people are as slow as you to accept that crap for what you say. It was an insult. point blank period

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw never said you would.  i have moved, concluding long ago that a) you are not very intelligent, b) use too many words, and 3) won't permit others to express an opinion without hurling insults.

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereNo, you are NOT entitled to that view. Well over the internet you are...

Why do you not move on? Yout hink I will eventually think as you?

No chance.

tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw circular.  i'm entitled to a view and you need to get over it and move on.

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereYou can't even debate properly...

You gave crap. They were insults labeled as opinions. Don't make them opinions

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw you don't like the answers, and you can't handle that others have an opinion, as I stated so earlier ago.

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereI do not give a damn about a vogue cover.

And you say I am using tooo many words because they seem to be going over your head. I see you can't answer me.

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw you are using too many words and confusing yourself.    btw, i think the 2008 Vogue cover represents the allegory, and several others agreed.

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereAnd you still do not get it. What are the social ramifications behind you calling a WHITE person a monkey? ANy history?

How about calling a black person that? Get it yet or do I have to walk you down the lane a bit more?...

And again, no definition will fit your insult because it was an insult. SO you can try to color your insult with opinion, but I can see its true colors shining through.

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw people that play the face card usually have no other options to call out, like you.  plenty of white people, in my opinion, look like chimps as well.  i dont see the world in black and white.  before you continue to argue your fruitless position, i would recommend you look up the word opinion.

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereNo actually not. The FOOL came because of the insult you hurled at a black person. Associating him with a chimp, as if that were original, without understanding the history behind such insults and why I am even educating you on the subject.

And then you base your OPINION on the fact that to you he, a black man, looks like a monkey and think you justify your insult because you label it as an opinion...

Yeah slam dunk all right... Right into the toilet

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw as noted, you don;t seem that smart based on your first post.  you did know know the meaning of the phrase "was a nothing foul"  in context.  You have expressed zero facts.  My opinion is based on physical appearance and observable reaction to the foul.    Slam dunk for me, so to speak....

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereFacts? I produced facts and you gave feelings.

So no, you are on the losing end, but again your mind is warped so you can believe as you like... Doesn't make it true though

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereThat's not an opinion. That is an insult, period. Your mind is warped because you seem to think otherwise. I can't handle stupidity, which you have on display.

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw never cried about insults, just letting you know how to differentiate between an opinion and something else.  my opinion as not an insult, and is only based on appearance and his animal like reaction to a foul.  you can't handle such opinions, so i get it and it does not bother me in the least.

YupIamhere
YupIamhere

@tfaw@YupIamhereActually you would not. Judging from your responses here and all. And me calling you a fool is the truth. Anyone who speaks as you do is a fool. You cry about insults, yet you feel you can insult him by calling him an animal....

Your IQ is low pal

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw i would run circles around you in the IQ department.  and you're right, calling me a fool is not an opinion, it is an baseless insult, which is less than an opinion.  my assertion of  the person that plays basketball is based on observation of physical similiarities, hence an opinion.

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw well, he looks like chimp to me, and i'm entitled to a opinion.  not everyone will have the same view.

tfaw
tfaw

@YupIamhere @tfaw well, you called me a fool, which was uncalled for.  i could explain more to you, but have concluded you are too clueless to do so.
