Video: Magic’s Jameer Nelson fined for ‘obscene gesture’ in loss to Bulls

The NBA announced Thursday that Magic guard Jameer Nelson has been fined $15,000 for making an obscene gesture during Orlando’s 128-125 triple-overtime loss to Chicago on Wednesday.

With 11 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Nelson drained a long jumper that tied the game at 101. After making the shot, he celebrated by positioning both of his hands below his waistline, as if to demonstrate the large size of his genitalia. The celebration — which generally accompanies clutch plays — was popularized by Wizards assistant coach and former NBA player Sam Cassell and is generally referred to as the “Big Balls Dance.”

The Bulls would not score on their ensuing possession and it would take three overtime periods for Chicago to emerge as the winner.

Nelson, 31, is on the books for $8.6 million this season.

This type of fine has become standard practice for the NBA: Bucks forward Caron Butler and Nets center Andray Blatche were each fined $15,000 for performing the celebration. Then-Bulls guard Marco Belinelli was also fined $15,000 in May for doing the dance during a Game 7 victory over the Nets in a 2013 first-round Eastern Conference playoffs series.

Nelson finished with 31 points (on 13-for-30 shooting), 10 assists and six rebounds. Victor Oladipo led the Magic with a game-high 35 points (on 15-for-24 shooting), eight assists and four rebounds.

Joakim Noah led the Bulls with 26 points (on 9-for-16 shooting), 19 rebounds and six assists. Jimmy Butler added 21 points (on 6-for-17 shooting), seven rebounds and six assists while playing a whopping 60 minutes.

Chicago improved to 18-19 with the win. Orlando dropped to 10-29 with the loss.

One of  the losing-est teams in the NBA and they are running around trying to act like they are somebody.

If these guys actually came to play every night, maybe they would not be such a poor excuse for a basketball team.  Disgusting and the fine is too small.  sad thing is, there is talent on that team but they just float around every game.
