Video: Pacers’ Paul George dunks on Magic’s Glen Davis
Pacers forward Paul George dunked on Magic forward Glen Davis during Orlando’s 93-92 home victory on Sunday.
With a little more than four minutes remaining in the first quarter and the Magic leading 21-15, George drove baseline from the left wing and found daylight, as no Orlando defenders stood between him and the paint. Taking a straight path to the hoop, George lifted off from just outside the restricted circle in search of a poster.
Davis, who had been on the opposite side of the key, saw what was about to happen, but it was already too late. George finished the one-handed dunk over the top of a left-handed contesting effort from Davis.
“Big Baby” got the last laugh, though, as he helped defend George on a potential last-second game-winner that wound up missing short.
High-flying heroics are nothing new for George, who is one of six players set to compete in the 2014 Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. Earlier this season, he threw down a 360 windmill that stands as one of the top “Dunk of the Year” candidates. That effort, among others, led The Point Forward to select George as one of six players to fill out a dream Dunk Contest field.
George finished with a game-high 27 points (on 10-for-19 shooting), seven rebounds and three assists. Lance Stephenson added 16 points (on 6-for-11 shooting), nine rebounds and three assists in a losing effort.
Victor Oladipo led the Magic with a team-high 23 points (on 8-for-18 shooting), four rebounds and four assists. Nikola Vucevic added 19 points (on 6-for-16 shooting) and 13 rebounds in the win.
Orlando improved to 16-37 with the victory. Indiana dropped to 39-11 with the loss.
